We use Riverside.fm for remote interviews. It provides high-quality audio and video recording with separate tracks for host and guest. Simple browser-based interface, no downloads required.
Audio equipment
- Apple microphones (including MacBook built-in) work well
- External mics like Blue Yeti or Audio-Technica are great
- Position microphone 6–8 inches from your mouth
- Use wired headphones to prevent echo
- Find a quiet environment with minimal background noise
Video & environment
- Position camera at eye level (external webcam preferred)
- Face a light source; avoid being backlit
- Choose a clean, uncluttered background
- Use a wired internet connection when possible
